When Obedience Feels Heavy: Trusting God in the Restart

Have you ever known exactly what God told you to do but doing it feels heavy, inconvenient, or even just plain hard?

In this honest and personal episode, I share how God gently called me back to the podcast after a season of resistance, wrestling, and a desire for simplicity. What started as a break became a heart check and a reminder that obedience still matters, even when it requires a restart.

If you’ve been sitting on something God told you to do (like writing the book, starting the business, or stepping into a new role) this episode is for you. You’re not behind. You’re not disqualified. You’re just being invited to say yes again.

Key Takeaways:

  • Resistance often shows up when you're on the edge of alignment.
  • Words have power start speaking life over the assignments God gave you.
  • You don’t have to do it perfectly. You just have to say yes again.
  • Allow God to help you along the journey.
  • Restarting isn’t failure it’s faith in action and it shows your obedience to God.

Speaker A:

Hey, everyone, and welcome to the Transformational Teacher Podcast.

Speaker A:

Yes, it's been a while, but I am back.

Speaker A:

And if you've been a part of this podcast journey from the beginning, thank you for sticking around.

Speaker A:

And if you are new, welcome.

Speaker A:

Welcome to the Transformational Teacher Podcast.

Speaker A:

Today's episode is really personal.

Speaker A:

Here's the thing.

Speaker A:

It's not about teaching.

Speaker A:

It's more of a heart check.

Speaker A:

It's more of something God has been dealing with me about over the last few months.

Speaker A:

I was thinking of heading in another direction because I wanted simplicity.

Speaker A:

I felt like sitting down at my desk to record a podcast was too much for me, but I was listening to a YouTube video, and what she said, it resonated with me so much.

Speaker A:

She said, the reason you don't want to podcast is because it's hard.

Speaker A:

And it spoke to me.

Speaker A:

But I said, okay, you.

Speaker A:

You're right.

Speaker A:

Then I heard her say, you're running because of it.

Speaker A:

And I said, but I still want simplicity, but I don't want to run.

Speaker A:

So I said, okay, God, what are you saying?

Speaker A:

So I felt God pulling me back to this podcast.

Speaker A:

So there's been a lot of resistance that I've been experiencing, but I had to realize I had to shift my mindset in the way that I view the podcast.

Speaker A:

Especially if God is calling me to do this thing.

Speaker A:

I don't want to allow my flesh or, you know, the way I feel to stop me from doing what he tells me to do.

Speaker A:

So I have had thoughts like, what if I'm not consistent again, If I start this?

Speaker A:

Is anyone still listening?

Speaker A:

Do I really have space for this?

Speaker A:

But even in the midst of that, I kept hearing that soft nudge from God.

Speaker A:

This still matters.

Speaker A:

You are running from what I told you to do.

Speaker A:

Push through the resistance and do what I tell you to do.

Speaker A:

Don't do it in your own strength, but allow me to strengthen you.

Speaker A:

Allow me to speak through you.

Speaker A:

So then I was listening to another podcast, and they said, stop speaking.

Speaker A:

That is hard.

Speaker A:

I said, wow, God, okay, I hear you.

Speaker A:

Start speaking life over your podcast.

Speaker A:

Speak what you want to see.

Speaker A:

Create a podcast declaration.

Speaker A:

Have affirmations for it.

Speaker A:

Speak success, Speak impact, Speak influence.

Speaker A:

And wow, that spoke to me because that's what I do inside the classroom.

Speaker A:

I have declarations.

Speaker A:

I have affirmations for my classroom, and it has helped to shift my mindset.

Speaker A:

It has helped me to see challenges inside the classroom from God's viewpoint because of what I keep before me.

Speaker A:

So I said, okay, God, I see.

Speaker A:

I need to see this in the same way I see speaking life over my students, speaking life over my school, family and other areas.

Speaker A:

Then I thought, well, I do have some affirmations and decorations above where I record it.

Speaker A:

But here's the thing, it's not helping me because I wasn't really recording.

Speaker A:

And the only time I would look at those things is when I would sit down to record a podcast.

Speaker A:

So I said, okay, God.

Speaker A:

So I now see I need to have these affirmations in a place that is going to cause me to look at it in my planner.

Speaker A:

So maybe you're in this space too.

Speaker A:

A space like this where you know what God has said, but doing it feels hard.

Speaker A:

It even may feel heavy.

Speaker A:

But here's the thing.

Speaker A:

God can walk us through it.

Speaker A:

And maybe that thing that you are hearing God tell you to do, it may be that book that he told you to start writing, that business, he told you to start that new job he told you to go after, to name a few, just to name a few things.

Speaker A:

Now, if this is where you are, I want you to know you're not behind, you're not forgotten.

Speaker A:

It's not too late to start.

Speaker A:

The key is to not put it off any longer.

Speaker A:

Start today.

Speaker A:

And here's the thing, it may not be perfect as you want it to be, but the key is to start.

Speaker A:

So here we are again.

Speaker A:

We're starting again.

Speaker A:

And this is the thing here, we're starting again.

Speaker A:

There's a few changes that are coming to the podcast.

Speaker A:

When I first started the Transformational Teacher Podcast, it was meant to encourage teachers in their faith, mindset and self care.

Speaker A:

And that mission is still close to my heart.

Speaker A:

But over time, God has began showing me that this space is about more than classroom encouragement.

Speaker A:

He's been leading me to share the conversations I have with him, the things he is teaching me in life.

Speaker A:

And the last few episodes that I recorded, that was really conversations that God was having with me.

Speaker A:

The moments that I have in the car, the journal entries, the tears, the worship, the lessons behind the scenes.

Speaker A:

That is what I am hearing God to share.

Speaker A:

So you will notice a small change in the title.

Speaker A:

The podcast is still called the Transformational Teacher Podcast, but there's a subtitle, Conversations with Jesus, because that's truly what each episode will be about.

Speaker A:

Conversations that I have with God that I believe will encourage you in your own walk, whether you're a teacher, a leader, or simply someone trying to walk in obedience.

Speaker A:

I believe these conversations that I share with you, that I have had with Jesus, will Bless you again.

Speaker A:

Thank you so much for being on this journey with me.

Speaker A:

And stay tuned for more episodes coming out.

Speaker A:

We will go ahead and close in prayer.

Speaker A:

Well, Heavenly Father, we thank you right now.

Speaker A:

We thank you Lord God for your grace.

Speaker A:

We thank you for your love.

Speaker A:

We thank you, Lord God for calling us closer and closer to you.

Speaker A:

We thank you, Lord God for meeting us where we are at and helping us to go to where you have us to go.

Speaker A:

I pray, Lord God, for every listener who's listening to this episode that they will hear your still small voice and they will see what you have for them.

Speaker A:

They will see that it's okay to start over, remind them they are still called, they are still chosen and they are loved by you and that you have great things in store for them.

Speaker A:

And I pray, Lord God that they will sit with you and they will allow you to minister to them.

Speaker A:

They will allow you to strengthen them for the journey that is ahead of them.

Speaker A:

So I thank you Father for what you are doing in them.

Speaker A:

I thank you Lord God that you will speak, Lord God to their hearts and meet them where they are at.

Speaker A:

And I just thank you Father for what you're doing.

Speaker A:

In Jesus name I pray.

Speaker A:

Amen.

Speaker A:

Now, if this episode encouraged you, I would love to hear from you.

Speaker A:

Send me a message if you have any prayer requests.

Speaker A:

As always, I would love to pray for you.

Speaker A:
